Masseria is a USDA Certified Organic, single-origin extra virgin olive oil, made from 100% Nocellara Etnea olives. Most olive oil is blended from many varieties and many regions. Ours is one cultivar, grown in one place. Native to Etna's volcanic slopes, our century-old groves run deep into mineral-rich soil, giving the oil its grassy, green-tomato flavor and the peppery, polyphenol-rich finish Masseria is known for.
Freshness is everything with olive oil. Our olives are cold-pressed within hours of harvest, then filtered and stored in oxygen-free, temperature-controlled tanks. We bottle in small batches and ship from Sicily several times a year, so the oil never sits losing flavor or polyphenols. Every harvest is third-party lab tested and packaged in tin-plated steel, the traditional vessel to protect fine olive oil from light and heat.
We are an independent, family-owned business, working directly with our producers in Sicily so what you pay goes into the oil, not middlemen or marketing. Olive oil is something we use every day ourselves, and that adds up when it comes to your health. The fat you use the most should be the best. Quality like this is rare, especially organic and mono-cultivar.
